In one year of single stream recycling, Quad Cities residents have saved 111,918 barrels of oil. That’s the equivalent of roughly 4.7 million gallons of gasoline!

Since the launch of single stream recycling in the Quad Cities, we’ve saved 47,671,936 kilowatt hours of electricity. That’s enough electricity to power 4,409 homes for a year!

Since the start of single stream recycling, Quad Cities residents have saved 638 tons of iron ore thanks to increased scrap metal recycling.
What a load!
Single stream recycling has helped Scott County keep 17,329 tons of material out of the landfill. That’s enough to fill 2,476 garbage trucks!

Single stream recycling has led to big increases in paper recycling. In the last year, Quad Cities residents have recycled enough paper and cardboard to save 203,212 trees from being cut down.
Increased Employment
The Waste Commission of Scott County has added 9 new jobs since launching single stream recycling. The demand has been so great the Waste Commission is adding a second shift and hiring 11 more people just to keep up with all the new recyclables coming in!
